Thinking of cleaning up those brows?

Nearly every woman wants her brows on fleek – but what is it really like to have your brows waxed?

In today’s beauty world, nothing says sexy like cute brows. Plus, you have dozens of options to choose from! Pencil thin, natural looking, bold, wild colors…

But the first step to any brow revamp, should probably include shaping and cleaning up those stray hairs.

So, in case you haven’t experienced this before, this is what getting your brows waxed feels like…

They’ll Trim Them…

If necessary, to shorten super long brow hairs, your technician will lightly trim them. This is done with a small pair of scissors, nothing drastic.

Occasionally, depending on the style of the technician, they may pluck a few hairs, but this varies. It’s always good to ask if tweezing is used if you have an aversion, since this is typically more painful.

Brows Will be Shaped…

This you can discuss with your beauty technician beforehand. While some want very tapered brows, others want more natural looking. You can always change your mind after the waxing, when you see the final result in the mirror.

And if you decide you don’t like them after a week, relax. the hair grows back, and you can try a different style!

Then Comes The Wax…

A thin layer is applied to sections of the eyebrow that is to be shaped. The technician will use a clean strip of cloth to press onto the hot wax. In one motion, the cloth is ripped off (for lack of a better word).

Since everyone’s pain tolerance is different, I can assure you that it’s not nearly as painful as getting a brazilian wax job. The pain is quick to pass, however, within moments of removal.

Each section of the brow is done individually – bottom of the eyebrow, sides, and top. As I mentioned before, you’ll get a chance to see the final result and you can opt for thinner brows if you wish.

Some salons will rub lotion on the waxed areas, and even throw in a little temple massage. A nice perk to ask your technician if they offer it – totally worth a tip!

What If I Don’t Like The Final Shape? Or My Brows Are Sparse?

There’s this wonderful invention called a brow kit!

It’s perfect for women who have shaped brows to their liking, but want them fuller. Or, if you decide that high arch really isn’t for you.

Brow kits range in price, but come in a variety of colors. It’s easy to find one closest to your natural eyebrow color. Or, if so inclined, you can even get wild colors, like reds, purples, or greens!

The Kat Von D Super Brow 24 Hour Wear Pommade* is perfect for sparse brows that just need fuller attention. In 16 colors, even if your hair is blue, you can find a match!

Remember, if you aren’t skilled at applying brow makeup, or don’t want to hassle with it, relax!

Since brow waxing lasts typically 3-4 weeks, depending on hair growth, your brows will return to their fuzzy glory. You can wax again, and try something different!
