This is important not just for keeping the house up to date. But if you’re looking to sell your home in the new year, you’ll want to make a few upgrades to strengthen your home’s appeal!

Color Trends for 2020

Soft, muted hues will be the color story for the new year. You can use pastel yellows, pinks, and blues to add a demure touch to the interior of your home.

If color isn’t your thing, never fear. Neutrals are always popular, and the lighter neutral tones are going to reign in 2020!

Window Trends for 2020

Child safety is always important.

Now that window blinds with cords are officially done for, it’s time to upgrade your windows and move to cordless options.

Roller shades give a more seamless look to window coverings and have cordless options.

Square and horizontal windows are on-trend for 2019-2020. If you have an older house, it might be time to do some renovations, and upgrade your windows altogether!

If you decide to take the plunge, and renovate before putting your house on the market, keep an eye out for window special offers so you can upgrade the entire house.

Homes with modern upgrades tend to sell at a higher price than old, dated houses with original designs.

Carpeting trends for 2020

Carpet is seldom seen these days, with most homeowners opting for hardwood flooring.

If you want to go back to the days of yore, and ditch area rugs, you have options. 100% water-proof carpeting is available these days. Which is a blessing if you have kids!

For the eco-conscious, sustainable and recycled carpet is also available. Planet based carpeting is also going to make a big debut in 2020, creating a more “green” approach to flooring options.

But if carpeting still isn’t your thing, don’t worry. Hardwood and tile is neutral carpet under bright green chaise loungenever going out of style.

Home trends in 2020 will see more creativity with flooring, as more designs and color schemes allow us to really explore design patterns with our floors.

Kitchen trends in 2020

It doesn’t look like the rustic farmhouse style is going out of date anytime soon.

If you have adopted the all-white kitchen with black accents, you can still incorporate pops of color. Which will be very on-trend in the next year!

Adding pops of more sustainable, and eco-friendly pieces will also bring your kitchen into the new year with a more current twist.

Bamboo utensils and marble platters will keep your kitchen looking modern without straying from the farmhouse feel.

Succulents, or other indoor plants, add a nice touch of greenery to the kitchen as well.

You can also add a pretty mosaic to the kitchen backsplash to add some color to an otherwise all-white kitchen!

  1. I love the neutral colors for homes and glad that window blinds with cords are now banned as those were so dangerous! Roller shades sound like a great new option!

  2. I miss my indoor plants. I had a wonderful Ivy until Gwenie pulled it down and broke the pot, almost hitting herself, when she was very young. I was thinking of getting succulents or something small now.

  3. Looking to update our home this year. I had no idea that they were waterproof carpets. I need one of these cause my daughter has poured so many things on my carpet.

  4. I honestly had no idea that they had waterproof carpets! That’s amazing, I need to look into that as I’m looking to replace my living room carpets.

  5. I love neutral color scheme it’s so easy to additional pieces. And it’s just a classic look. Thanks for sharing.
