How To Make A Lemon-Scented Degreaser.
Lemons are highly effective degreasers and you can make your very own lemon degreasing spray by combining 2 tablespoons of freshly-squeezed lemon juice, 2 cups of water, a tablespoon of baking soda and a drop of castile soap.
This powerful spray will remove stubborn grease, will disinfect and act as a gentle abrasive. This gentle solution can be used on most surfaces to remove even the most stubborn grease stains.
Booster for dishes.
We all want our dishes to be sparkling clean and if you add only half a lemon to your dishwasher’s cycle, you can expect to have the cleanest and shiniest dishes!
If you prefer to hand wash your dishes, then simply add 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice to the water for the same, amazing effect!
Removal of stains in food containers.
Nothing is more annoying than having leftover food staining your precious plastic containers. Which happens, if you’re like me, and you try to reheat spaghetti in a Tupperware container.
If you have a few stained plastic containers lying around, all you need to do is squeeze some lemon juice onto the affected areas and then let them dry in the sunlight. You’d be amazed at how the stains vanish before your eyes!

Shines copper and brass.
Copper and brass pots, bowls and decor items can look dull if not shined and buffed on a regular basis.
An easy way to do this is to cut a lemon in half, sprinkle it with some coarse salt and then rub gently on your copper or brass items. They will shine in no time!
Effective microwave cleaner.
Many of us have caked on food and other grime lying in our microwaves if we don’t clean them immediately.
If you’re looking for an easy way to remove this, then pour around 12 ounces of water into a glass bowl and add about 3 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice. Heat for about 5 minutes and let the steam loosen all the unwanted grime.
Use a cloth to wipe the mess away and you have a sparkling clean microwave! It really is as easy as this!
Bathtub cleaner.
Looking for a natural but great bathtub cleaner? Combine some baking soda, cream of tartar and a few drops of lemon juice for a stain-fighting cleaner.
Rub this into your bathtub, allow to sit for half an hour and then, voila, your bathtub is as good as new!

Brighten clothes.
If you are reluctant to use bleach to whiten and brighten your clothing, lemon juice is equally as effective and a great, natural alternative.
Place your clothing in a plastic tub, add some hot water with some lemon slices and let it sit for 10 minutes. Your clothes should look much better afterward!
For really tough stains, like those from cloth diapers, just soak the stain with lemon juice, and lay the item in the sun for a few hours. You’ll be amazed at the natural bleaching power!
Cheese grater cleaner.
Cleaning a cheese grater can be highly irritating as it’s very difficult to get to all the hidden places which have bits of cheese.
To combat this problem, take half a lemon and rub it along your grater. The embedded cheese should fall away easily, resulting in a shiny and clean cheese grater.

Cutting board cleaner.
Cutting boards take a lot of abuse as they are used very often. This results in unsightly stains, funky smells and embedded grime.
Clean your cutting board the natural way by squeezing half a lemon over the board and rubbing the juice in. Let it stand for about half an hour while the acids remove stains and disinfect and you will have a fresh, new cutting board to use! Repeat this process once a week for best results.
All-purpose cleaner.
Whether you need to clean bathroom surfaces, floors or kitchen counters, this great, all-purpose lemon cleaner will do an excellent job.
Simply combine some lemon peels and some white vinegar and let the solution sit for a few weeks. Remove the peels, dilute the mixture with equal parts of water and then pour into a spray bottle.
You now have an inexpensive and flexible cleaner for your entire household!

I am going to try your advice on using lemon to clean out a stained plastic container. Yes, too much spaghetti sauce stored in my containers has left them quite coloured.
The acidic properties of the lemon make it an excellent descaler, actually I didn’t know the others!
I have done all of these at one time or another! I love cleaning with lemon. It works really well, and it smells wonderful instead of stinking up the house with a chemical smell.
