How Bad is Sugar?

Sugar by itself is not essentially a bad thing. Too much sugar, however, is very bad for you in general.

Added calories, risk of high blood pressure, and dental problems can be the result of too much sugar in the diet.

So it makes sense that most people don’t want any added sugar to their diet where they can help it.

We personally don’t buy sugar, mainly because everything we would normally use it in, already has sugar added!

So trying Morningpep’s Xylitol Natural Sweetener was a welcome experience – but is it a good sugar substitute?

Cons?

Xylitol is extremely dangerous for dogs!

If your dog has a habit of drinking your coffee, make sure you don’t allow him to have any if using Xylitol.

Otherwise, it’s a great substitute for real sugar.

Conclusion

I do not have a dog, currently. So I did use Morningpep’s Xylitol in my coffee, which I never use sugar in because my creamer usually has enough alone.

There really was no aftertaste and I couldn’t tell the difference between the substitute and using real sugar. Unlike when I use Stevia, or Sugar in the Raw.

  1. I wonder what makes it so dangerous for dogs? Interesting. I’m not big on sugar substitutes but sugar is crap so I probably need to start looking for an alternative. Thanks for the info!

  2. I have been so curious about this alternative to sugar! Apparently it is also very healthy for your teeth as well? I heard they make it into gum! So interesting!

  3. Great read! I only add sugar to my tea. But I drink about four cups a hot tea and add two teaspoons of sugar each time I make a cup. I’ll have to give this sweetener a try.

  4. I’m not a fan of sugar, but I do like my desserts. Is this something that I can use while baking or just as a substitute for drinks and cooking?

  5. Such an informative post on sugar. I tried to limit my sugar intake but sometimes it is really hard as I do crave for sugar at times. I guess I can turn into alternatives.

  6. I’ve never heard of this before, so it’s good to read about alternatives. I’m trying to reduce my sugar intake in general, so this is all useful knowledge.
