Why would Mom want to meditate?

Self care is vital for any Mother. What you consider self care, can be entirely anything you want that helps to rejuvenate and refresh.

Meditation can be done nearly anywhere, and for as long as is needed. For the Mom who needs just a moment to herself, or even just time to think, this is perfect!

Especially if you are burdened with tough decisions, or just need some reflection time. Meditation is an excellent way to not focus on the next busy task. But instead, live in a relaxing moment, and listen to your own body and mind.

This practice of focusing on yourself instead of the millions of other things, is a great way for the busy parent to come back down to Earth. And trust me, with time, you will love to meditate!

What’s the best kind of Meditation?

Meditation comes in many forms. But the most simplest, and easiest achieved, is known as Mindfulness Meditation.

Its this type of meditation that is perfect for a busy Mom, who doesn’t have a lot of time to herself. And wants the time that she does have, to directly benefit her mind and soul!

Mindfulness Meditation is all about living in the moment – and allowing your mind to freely wander. It’s focus is not on avoiding certain thoughts or feelings – but allowing yourself to wander and live in the feelings you are experiencing at that time.

Breathing as you wish, thinking as your mind flows, and living in the moment. All perfect revival ingredients for every Mom!

How To Meditate

Set aside a few minutes as you can.  This can be for as short or as long as you need. There’s no rules! If you only have 5 minutes before the babysitter arrives, or an hour before bedtime. It’s all up to you!

Set a soft toned alarm on your phone for your designated time. Nothing too alarming or jarring that will kill the vibe!

Find a comfortable space. This can be your office, living room, bedroom, whatever! This form of meditation can occur anywhere you feel comfortable – lying down on the couch, or relaxing in a bubble bath!

Meditation

Breathe as comfortably as you can. Don’t over think it! Just breathe naturally and without any forced rhythm. Don’t focus so much on your breathing, but focus on feeling what your mind and body are saying.

If you find yourself randomly thinking of that To Do List, don’t fight it. just allow yourself to think and breathe.

Don’t make decisions or plans. For this time isn’t for remaining “busy” but rather, your time to meditate!  The point of Mindfulness Meditation, is to just enjoy how you’re feeling and where your brain wanders to.  You can analyze your thoughts later…just enjoy them for the moment!

Think and breathe until your timer goes off. This can be increased each day if you strive for longer meditation periods. Or, if you’re happy with the time you have set aside, just relish in it!

With just a little meditation as you can find the time, this extra Self Care habit will lead to a happier mindset, and a more mindful lifestyle!

  1. Hi, Jasmine! I saw your link in the FB group we both belong to. I’m glad I clicked over to read this. When all 4 of my adult children were little, the only time I found that was quiet enough was during overnight feedings. I wish I had learned the art of finding my quiet place during the day time and I further wish your blog and this post existed back then! 😀 The photo of meditating on the beach held my attention for a few minutes, too! 🙂

  3. I love mindfulness meditation and moving meditations! It’s easy to incorporate to the day, takes a few minutes, and helps with recentering!
