Kids want to have fun!
Race To Space Includes…
- 1 Neoprene Game Mat (board)
- 4 Dice
- 248 Mission Cards (ranging 4 subjects)
- 32 Action Cards
- 56 Star Cards
- Instruction Booklet
Designed for children ages 8+, and for 2-4 players. I had the opportunity to test the Ultimate Edition with my nieces and nephews. Game play itself is simple; be the first player to score 15 points with cards face up on the table and win the race to space! Game play time ranges from about 10-15 minutes.
There’s many ways players can use strategy to gain advancement themselves and set back other players. Race To Space itself, is also a trivia game, in that players will have to answer questions on the subjects of Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. You can also utilize the blank cards with your own content – making this game fully customizeable for the subjects you feel your child needs to work on a little more.
So how did the kids like it?
My nieces and nephews range from 6 years old to 15. They were actually able to all play together, with each child being challenged together. Not only is knowledge important, so is strategy. Each child was able to have fun using their own ways of advancing in the game, regardless of age or skill level. Of course, I would recommend that all game players be around the same age/grade, but if you have kids who do help each other with board games, Race To Space is a great way to engage family night! Also, if you happen to have more than 4 players – consider creating teams, and splitting the cards between teams, versus the individual players.
We loved the fact that the kids were engaged, and enjoying the game. They were challenged just enough and it was something they could all do together.
While we played the Ultimate Edition, Race To Space is also available in two single-subject editions, Math & Science.
Because of the ability to customize game card, teachers can even use this game within their classroom! The perfect way to focus on particular subjects, while having fun too!
