The Tanglelows Two: Trampling & Trembling

Another Tanglelows Book?

So, did you love The Tanglelows? Guess what…there’s a sequel! And it’s just as awesome as the first..maybe even better!

The Tanglelows

So, if you missed out on my review of the first book in this series, The Twisting Troubling Tanglelows Trail, you should go check that out first. You will also learn more about what a Tanglelow is, but to summarize; its those negative, troubling thoughts that creep into our brains and cloud our minds. Now, there’s a sequel to the first book, that goes a little deeper into the trouble with those terrible Tanglelows, called “The Trampling & Trembling  Tangleows Tale.”

Trampling & Trembling

So we already know that Tanglelows can twist and trouble our thoughts into a messy road to navigate – but now we learn how they can also trample and tremble! The author does an amazing job of explaining how bad feelings can cause someone to overthink and feed their anxieties. Creating more fear and doubt, making it harder to see the light at the end of a dark tunnel. This book is a little longer, but goes way deeper into how our negative thoughts multiply and thrive off each other.

Tramples give us doubt and fear. Trembles tend to listen-and knot up, and keep the cycle going. Making the path to happiness hard to see, and harder to travel down. I love how this book explains these feelings and emotions. It’s so easy for a child to comprehend, and even encouraging for an adult. Sometimes we need help with our own anxieties and thought process, and that help can often come from amazing places.

The Trampling & Trembling Tanglelows Tale encourages children to seek help from their bottled up emotions and thoughts, by talking to a friend. I love this, because it’s so true, for all ages. Instead of listening to your own mind, sometimes you really gotta get out of your thoughts, and share them. It can feel better to get things off your chest! You may even find a solution, but even if there isn’t an answer, it’s better to a supportive person rather than allow your thoughts to keep twisting and turning the bad. And I think this is an important lesson for children to learn early…so they don’t struggle as an adult later.

The illustrations in this book are just as beautiful as the last, and the rhyming storytelling style is fun to read, and listen to! This whole series has been really engaging, and I honestly can’t wait to see if maybe there will be a third book…pleasseeee??? Greg McGoon is an amazing storyteller, and I honestly can’t wait to see more! No shame in fangirling out there-this really is the best book series for kids!

  1. I love the idea of using story as a way to help kids navigate their feelings. I haven’t heard of these but will have to see if they’re available from the library.
