Custom Christmas Invitations

Looking for a Custom Christmas Invitation?

With the holidays approaching, our first real Christmas party as a family is on the agenda. Yes, it’s a little early to be thinking about it now – but I plan ahead. While planning ahead, I did stop at a few stores and put some serious thought into my paper invitations. I ultimately decided that custom Christmas invitations were a must!
Usually I never do paper invitations. I didn’t even do them for my wedding! Mostly because I can’t ever decide on a design. This year I tried going out of my comfort zone, but nothing in the Hallmark section really caught my eye.

Acres A Bloom

Looking to the internet, I actually came across this Instagram feed and found Acres A Bloom – Custom designs for all your party or announcement needs! Wedding, Baby, Graduation, Birthday, and yes-Christmas parties!
This was the flair and originality I was missing in my store bought cards!
I contacted Rebekah (who is super awesome!) and let her know my ideas. She sent me an email to continue with the project, and the order form to select design colors and scheme. It was super easy to navigate! I  wanted to allow her a lot of creative control, since I (of course) can’t ever fully commit to a design when given a lot of options. The result? Awesomeness!
Custom Invitations for all your parties and events!

Custom cards are the ultimate way to go!

I now am a solid believer that for any special occasion, if you can make it your own somehow, that you should definitely go for it!
And while it might only be an invitation, it’s also the first impression your guests will get of how the atmosphere, and mood, of your party will be! This design spoke to me as being “Festive”, “Warm”, and “Merry!”
But hey, isn’t that how Christmas is supposed to be? Plus, no one will ever be able to say they “used that pack of cards for last year’s party.”
Acres A Bloom offers designs for all occasions, including Baby Announcements, Graduation/Birthday parties, Weddings, and all Holidays! I wanted something very simple – but her designs can be as elaborate as the occasion calls for! They are all truly beautiful!

KidloLand App Review & Giveaway

This review is in exchange for a free app paid for by the app company. The opinions expressed are entirely my own and aren’t swayed by the compensation of the free app.

Sometimes, when you need to distract your little one in any way possible, you have to turn to your phone.

I’m not one to leave any electronic devices with my 15 month old. For one, screen time isn’t good for them at such a young age. Two, I don’t need him downloading more seasons of Grey’s Anatomy on my Google Play account (it’s on Netflix!) or sending random selfies of his nostrils to anyone. And then lastly, do you know how expensive a good smartphone is? He already got away with dropping my Samsung on concrete, let’s not push our luck with anything more than a small scratch in the corner of the glass.

But for those moments, like waiting at the Doctor’s office, where he needs to be quietly distracted, it can be a lifesaver. So for the few apps that I do have for him, when I don’t feel like burning data on Youtube, I make sure they are at least educational. Then I don’t have to feel too bad about letting my toddler play with my phone.

When KidloLand reached out to have me review their new app, I thought it would be a good experience for the both of us. Bruce has a new app to play with for a few minutes at a time, and I can listen to different nursery songs that I haven’t heard renditions of before.

The app is more than just nursery rhymes. There’s songs and games about numbers, the alphabet, colors, shapes, animals, dinosaurs, and a LOT more! And the songs do have the lyrics across the screen. Which I know, doesn’t do much for him now. But it’s early steps towards recognizing his letters, and then much later down the road, reading.

The app is incredibly interactive as well. Granted, his swiping and tapping skills aren’t very good yet (he mostly chews on the edges of the phone and drools if the content has him bored) so he needs Mommy’s help. I oblige, because again – I don’t want 100 selfies of his eyeball – but within each song and game, there’s actually so much you can click on, even I wasn’t entirely bored with it.

For example; “Old MacDonald” is set on a farm (Duh) and the scene opens with the barn itself. You click different areas of the barn to open scenes, with dancing and singing animals, who each do their own cute and quirky thing when also clicked. Each song had different interactive features that kept Bruce locked in. And if something isn’t entirely interesting to him, he’s immediately bored and moves on to other means of destruction, like hiding the coffee table coasters. What’s awesome is that Old Macdonald has other entrepreneurial endeavors, like a Zoo & Aquarium, so we don’t too easily get burned out on the same, familiar rhymes.

If I allowed him, he’d probably spend all day with my phone playing with this app. Since I don’t let him use it but for a few minutes at a time, there’s so many songs that he couldn’t possibly get bored of them all. So I believe this is something we will end up using for years (which when it is time to learn reading, the phonics portion of the app will be really handy!).

Best things about this app? No data or wifi needed once you’ve downloaded the songs you want, and no ads! None!

There’s over 300 stories, rhymes and songs, and more than 200 games and activities. So trust me, with all the different renditions of your favorite songs, plus original content, you won’t get bored either.  With a subscription, you are able to receive new content as it’s updated to the app. There’s two subscription options: Monthly or Yearly. But if you aren’t ready to just dive in with a subscription, there’s a free trial (but not all songs and games are accessible.)

You can downloads the app via iOS here, or on Google Play Store and Amazon.

Now for the fun part…

KidloLand is allowing us to do our first International Giveaway! There are 3 opportunities to win a free three-month subscription! So yes, even if you aren’t in the USA, you have the opportunity to try this great app out!

5 Favorite Fall Scents (That Aren’t Pumpkin!)

This page contains affiliate links, via Amazon, for which I receive a very small amount of compensation. . However, all views and opinions are 100% my own. I only recommend products that I use myself and absolutely love!

That time of year is nearly upon us. Changing leaves, crisp cool air…the overwhelming stench of pumpkin infiltrating everything in sight.

Can you tell I’m biased?

I’m one of those rare people that don’t care for pumpkin flavored/scented anything…unless it’s actually pumpkin.

Pumpkin belongs to be eaten in a pie with icecream on top…not put in coffee, cookies, car air fresheners, or feminine products. I’ll never forget the first time I saw Pumpkin Spice scented Always Pads. That was crossing a very defined line! But, my pumpkin lovers adore them, so c’est’ la vie!

But, if you’re like me, and Pumpkin Spice just isn’t your thing, you don’t have to feel left out this time of year, because believe it or not – there’s actually a lot of fall-related fragrances out there that don’t contain the stuff! Here’s 5 of my top favorites from Bath & Body Works that always get me in an Autumn kind of mood! As soon as these hit the store, I went a little overboard and had to get them all!

5: Leaves

Although we haven’t hit the first day of Autumn yet, once I saw the nasty Pumpkin Spice had invaded the local Bath & Body Works, I began the quest to get the smell out of my nose. I bought this in candle form, and it’s strong-but not overpowering. This one candle is enough to fill my living room with a wonderfully earthy scent that can only be described as “Fall.” This could probably transcend into winter as a seasonal fragrance, but for the start of the season, I love it! It’s available as a wallflower and room perfume, but I like candles for larger areas, so it works great in our house.

4: Mahogany Teakwood
Because my husband is a man, and enjoys manly things (Like the smell of leather-bound books and mahogany). I picked this out specifically for his office. It’s very light and comfortable, and while I would categorize it for Fall, it’s also something you could use year round. And you will, because as we all know, men don’t like change. I use the wallflower, but it actually comes in a car freshner too!

3: Sweater Weather

When I haven’t had a candle burning, a few sprays here and there, and the visions of cool air and warm toastiness fills the room with “Sweater Weather!” It has a very nice blend of berry and apple, the perfect combination for a nice, warm Autumn day. Not overpowering at all, and very pleasant. I think this would go well as a wallflower is you really enjoy the scent, and don’t want to spray a lot. It’s perfect for those unexpected visitors and you haven’t anything nice burning. I probably get more compliments with this one on average. It’s just between ‘masculine’ and ‘feminine’!

2: Autumn Sunshine

I put a bottle of this in our guest bathroom, and a wallflower in the master bath. I love the citrusy tones with this one, and it’s a nice change from the earthy, woodsy scents in the rest of the house (although it does have cedarwood, so it’s not too far away from the theme we have going). Living in georgia, we don’t really have the color changing leaves or incredibly cool days that most other areas have with Fall, So I personally think this scent compliments that actual weather we have outside. I could even see using this for summertime as well, so I’ll probably be stocking up soon!

I fell in love with this long ago, and this year, I actually bought the 3-wick candle, wallflowers, and room sprays for it! It’s my absolute favorite Fall scent! It’s musky, woodsy, and an all around pleasant change from the normal fresheners on the market. My husband enjoys it too, as it’s not too overwhelming or “girly”. It actually reminds me of a Lumberjack…but not a smelly, sweaty Lumberjack. More like if Fabio were a Lumberjack, and was hanging out in your hallway. Wile I don’t think it could transcend into other seasons, it’s definitely worth getting for a nice Autumn feel in your home or car! Well, maybe early Winter…or maybe I’m not ready to let it go, even just as this season has started!
An honorable mention, the Glade Blackberry Jam room spray…how I miss you so! I found it a few years ago and haven’t been able to find them for the last few seasons. but, they were sold as a limited edition scent, and if you do find them somewhere-grab them! I don’t know if I would classify it as a “fall” scent, but I loved it back in 2012, and would pay anything to get it back again!
So I do hope you’ll look into these for freshening your home with a nice Fall theme, and let me know how they work out for you!

Teething/Nursing Necklaces: Meadoria Product Review

Anyone in the market for a teething/nursing necklace?

I had the wonderful opportunity to review this beautiful teething/nursing necklace made my Larisa Rachkovskiy at Meadoria, and it is awesome!

I’ve tried nursing necklaces before, I made one myself using similar beads and cord, but it was a fail on my part. The cord actually hurt my neck during those lovely yanks that I think all babies MUST do when nursing, and while simple, it just didn’t have much flair.

This is beautifully made with crocheted beads and natural wood. And there’s a variety of colors to choose from (mine is Royal Blue and I LOVE it! Even my husband thought it made more of a fashion statement as well as a practical use). Non-toxic materials (which we all love), and if wood just ins’t your thing, she even has a variety of silicone products to choose from just for kids, and they are super cute!

But the real test? Wearing it with my son, almost ten months old now and very active during feedings. I love how big the beads are, and he gets more sensory play with the crocheted beads, but honestly the best part? It didn’t hurt my neck during those annoying yanks! and unlike my homemade necklace, I could shorten this if needed, or keep it long – and bonus, it looks amazing either way!
And amazingly comfortable – not heavy at all, very, very light.

Knotted at the ends of the beads so you don’t have to worry if it actually becomes untied around your neck, you won’t lose anything. It IS real, natural wood, which has no toxic sealant or lacquer on it. The wood is coated with a blend of organic coconut oil & organic beeswax. You can restore it and keep it in good condition by using olive oil or coconut oil to help keep it’s natural sheen (I prefer coconut.)

And my son loves to play with it! It keeps him well entertained during nursing, and I don’t have to worry about anything toxic getting to him when chewing.

Meadoria has a lot of awesome products as well as this one. I love how the paciclips are designed and kinda disappointed I don’t have a use for them (Bruce has never taken to a paci). Check out her facebook and etsy pages. There’s different styles of necklaces for mom (The pendant teething/nursing necklace is my favorite!), necklaces for kids, burp cloths and blankets, and even hair accessories!

And thank you again to Larisa at Meadoria, for the beautiful necklace and letting me write a review for her! This is one I’m definitely recommending for anyone in the market!
