The Importance Of Skin-to-Skin Contact & Introducing DadWare

Studies have shown that direct skin-to-skin contact, is incredibly beneficial to a newly born baby. One Dad became inspired after the birth of his own child, and created a pretty innovative product to help Dads’ everywhere take part in bonding! Introducing, DadWare!

Why Skin-To-Skin Is Important

Skin-to-skin contact is highly touted as an extraordinary benefit to newborn babies. Immediate, as well as continuous, skin-to-skin contact will…

  • Help reduce stress and pain levels in newbornsBondaroo by dadware
  • Regulate body temperature
  • Promote healthy weight gain and eating habits
  • Encourages deeper sleep
  • Helps with breastfeeding
  • Promotes bonding with both parents

…as well as a host of other benefits!

I was lucky enough to be able to do this immediately following my son’s birth. But, just in case (because sometimes birth’s don’t go according to plan, and you may not be able to do immediate skin-to-skin after baby arrives), my Husband had a side mission. As well as cutting the cord, should the event arise that I could not immediately hold my son, his job was a simple but highly important one; snuggle that baby. Take your shirt off, and hold that baby. Come hell or high water.

Well, he didn’t have to take his shirt off then, but my husband was at the ready! He did do his fair share of snuggles for many, many months (and now almost two years) later. But one issue he did have, was lack of clothing.

He didn’t feel comfortable taking his shirt off when company was around. Nobody wants a stray chest hair wafting around in the air conditioning. And it’s a little inconvenient when you hand baby off and get a knock at the door by an unexpected guest.

Well, one Dad went through the same experience, and it inspired him to Bondaroo by DadWarecreate something innovative for all the fathers wanting to get in on this crucial bonding practice. And DadWare was born!

Bondaroo

The DadWare Bondaroo has a unique design that allows optimal skin-to-skin contact, with a wide opening across the chest that can easily be put back together with High-Technology Hook & Loop Velcro. This type of Velcro is smooth to the touch, and won’t harm baby’s soft, sensitive skin (or bother yours!). The material of the Bondaroo is lightweight, comfortable against Dad and baby’s skin, and made with a unique bamboo/cotton/spandex blend. This ensures little unwanted stretching, antimicrobial qualities and a
comfortable feel.Bondaroo by DadWare

NOTE: this is not a babywearing item! The  Bondaroo simply facilitates the bonding experience skin-to-skin contact offers. And Dad doesn’t have to go completely shirtless, and can cover back up easily.Bondaroo by daware helps skin-to-skin contact

My husband saw this and immediately demanded to know why he didn’t get one at the baby shower!

The DadWare Bondaroo has been recommended by Doctors for it’s abilities to encourage skin-to-skin contact in an easy, convenient way for Fathers.

MomWare Maternity Gown

DadWare also solved one slightly inconvenient problem I had while in the delivery room!

I remember the hospital gown I wore to my induction eventually ended up just wrapped around my waist after my son was born. Because I started breastfeeding within minutes of birth, I had no choice but you wiggle the MomWare maternity Gown by DadWaretop of the gown down to my middle to help with skin-to-skin. And basically just sat in the bed a while totally uncovered, except for my stomach. And yes, it was cold in there!

DadWare has also developed a MomWare Maternity Gown for this very reason-providing ultimate contact with baby, while still being able to discreetly breastfeed (or, in my case, just stay warmer!).  DadWare has literally thought of everything!

You can get your own DadWare Bondaroo on Amazon, or by visiting their site, and I think this makes an excellent gift for expecting fathers who want to take part in bonding experiences with their child.

Skin-to-skin is so vitally important to baby’s health, and the starting point to attachment parenting.

  1. This is awesome. I know us dads are getting more and more involved nowadays and something like this is cool to see. My son is 15 months and I still love getting cuddles when he’s just in a diaper.

  2. This is so helpful! For all three of my babies my hubby did the first few minutes of skin-to-skin because they were still trying to finish off with the after stuff with me..it would have been nice to have this instead of a blanket over his back coz its usually cold in hospitals. And its true with those hospital gowns..it felt so incomfortable to be full exposed in the hospital with nurses and visitors coming in and out.

  3. I’m not a parent, but I guess how important contact is for a child and his dad as well as for mom. Like any newborn puppy, there are few active senses and touch is one of them!

  4. That is such a great idea! My husband used to sit with the kids with his shirt off when they were babies. I like this option better because men can have that contact anywhere and not just in the house.

  5. That dadware shirt is really awesome! It would have been nice to have when my two were babies, (they are six and ten) but we made it work. Thanks for sharing this!

  10. Interesting! I know mom’s mostly be with the babies but I think babies need dad’s care too. This dadware seems like a creative product

  11. This is a great idea and so needed! We forget that clothes block the connection and babies need it the most.

  12. This is a unique shirt. I love it. Skin to skin is incredibly important and Dad’s should be included in that!

  13. Yes!!! Completely agree with this! Skin to Skin is best way for dad to bond with baby! Take off those shirts!

  14. Skin to skin is so important and I think that all new parents need to do this, both mom and dad. I have never seen this kid of wear before but it looks really interesting.
